How to Prepare for your Wedding Makeup Preview

It’s not uncommon for my wedding clients to not often wear makeup, let alone have it done professionally. Here are my tips to feel prepared and for during your appointment:

  • PREP

    • Beautiful makeup starts with your skincare routine. See your esthetician if you can. Makeup can only do so much to improve your skin tone and texture, nothing beats a skin care routine tailored for you. And don’t forget SPF!

    • Look for inspiration photos that are in your similar skin tone, hair color, etc. Try to look at makeup photos from your artist’s portfolio, not Pinterest. Popular photos on Pinterest are often heavily edited or AI, and not realistic.

  • AT THE APPOINTMENT

    • Please come to your appointment alone. Other people can have opinions that can interfere with the process. This is about what you want!

    • Wear a shirt that is the same color or similar to your wedding dress to get an accurate preview.

    • BE HONEST with your artist. If you’re not feeling something, let them know!

    • TRUST THE PROCESS. Wedding makeup can be very different from your everyday application. We use techniques for longevity and the most important thing - your photos!

    • Communication is key! Please communicate any allergies you have, sensitivities, etc.

  • AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

    • Check in with your artist - what you loved, and what adjustments you’d like to make before your wedding day.
